When I ask Helen how she discovered that a career as an image consultant was for her she replies, in her usual effervescent manner, “Completely unintentional actually! I was half way through a financial planning degree and discovered I was so not into that!” She laughs, ”I saw people being overlooked for promotion and It amazed me how very powerful perceptions are. ”

She has been affectionately called ‘The Image Muse’ because of her caring nature and magic expertise in her field. I ask her what the best thing about being an image consultant is.

“It’s such a privilege to be part of someone’s journey. The best thing is watching their confidence and self-esteem increase. This work affects all areas of a person’s life. When you feel good about how you are presenting yourself, you perform at significantly higher levels in all aspects of your life, not just work. Everyone around you gets the benefit."

The beginning of any year is a time of thoughtful reflection of people who are deserving of our thanks and gratitude. We can most assuredly think of many situations where blessings have come our way in many different forms, and SizeXchange is no exception.

Becky and I in our humble beginnings spent many a day travelling via car and foot seeking partnerships with companies who would happily distribute our postcards and posters to their clients in exchange for a little advertising on our site. Happy New Year!

Often with the new year celebrations come a lot of extra unwanted bulges that linger longer than we like. For instance, the traditional kiwi/Aussie pavlova is always a welcome must at the lunch and dinner table that we just cannot refuse. Coming into the new year is also a time to ponder those gifts Aunty Sue and Grandma Mabel gave as a last minute thought. The floral skirt that would have looked great on you 20 years ago and the pants that would fit skinny cousin Jo who is all of 14. 

REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE. Now is the time to get into your wardrobe and sift through the unused clothes, whether new or used, and make it your New Year's Resolution to exchange them for clothing that you can be proud to have hanging in your wardrobe.

I too have done exactly that. I am proud to say that instead of using the same coat hanger 4 times over with clothes that I havn't worn since last Christmas, my wardrobe is now housing hangers with one item of clothing and I'm looking forward to dressing the spare hangers with YOUR newly listed items for exchange. So please help me fill my wardrobe as it's looking a little bare.
